Mike is both a Chartered Planning & Development Surveyor and a Chartered Town Planner, and has a strong grasp of the planning process, development economics and heritage/design matters, coupled with comprehensive experience gained with Local Authorities and a Housing Association across north-west England.
Mike has expertise in both urban and rural planning, with projects ranging from release of greenbelt land for sustainable urban extensions to redevelopment of contaminated brownfield sites, and from home extensions to housing sites of several thousand units. Mike also boasts significant experience in delivering commercial, industrial, retail and leisure schemes as well as the Future Schools programme. Having also worked as conservation officer, Listed Building and Conservation Area work also feature in his career, alongside the preparation of funding bids.
Over the years Mike has worked with everyone from major developers and volume housebuilders to businesses and individuals looking to extend property. His rounded knowledge enables him to build robust cases for Local Planning Authorities and the Planning Inspectorate. He has appeared at public inquiries and informal hearings, prepared numerous written representation appeals and presented proposals to Planning Committees.
